Holding its Charge

Dealer opportunity will remain strong as EVs join our roads.

Technological advancements are increasing the range and variety of electric vehicles (EVs), and auto giants are investing billions to capture the emerging market. Add in a large dose of media buzz and it starts to feel like gas- and diesel-powered cars will soon be electric-vehicle roadkill. But read past the headlines and that outcome appears dubious. Yes, EVs are a market reality going forward. However, for several reasons, gas- and diesel-powered vehicles will remain dominant for years to come and will remain scrappy competitors for a long time after that.

2021 Model Year Added to Powersports Product Guides

We recently added 2021 model-year vehicles and equipment to the powersports product guides at AMSOIL.com/AMSOIL.ca. Use the guides to find AMSOIL product recommendations for the following powersports applications:

• Motorcycles

• ATVs

• UTVs

• Outboard motors

• Snowmobiles

• Personal watercraft

With this update, our powersports guides provide recommendations for an additional 1,585 vehicle and equipment models, solidifying its status as the most comprehensive such guide in the industry. Unlike other guides, it also includes filter recommendations and, in many cases, sump capacities. In fact, most lubricant and filter companies don’t offer a powersports product guide due to the increased cost and sheer amount of work required.

Make sure your customers are taking advantage of this great value-added service.

Maximum Grease Purchase Quantities

A large U.S. facility operated by one of our grease manufacturing partners was destroyed in a major fire this past summer, limiting our ability to maintain certain grease inventories and forcing us to limit or turn off certain grease sales until supply comes in. Supply-chain issues are also creating significant challenges for manufacturers in all industries, including AMSOIL. All manufacturing components, including steel, cartridge tubes, chemicals and even drivers to deliver raw materials and finished goods, are in short supply. As a result, we have established maximum purchase quantities, as well as recommended alternate greases, allowing us to serve more of our customers without disruption. Please continue to check AMSOIL.com/AMSOIL.ca for maximum purchase quantities and alternate grease recommendations. The majority of AMSOIL products are available as normal and we expect that to continue; despite our best efforts, however, supplies of grease pose challenges and likely will for a few more months. Thank you for understanding; we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Production of Certain AMSOIL Oil Filters Moving to Mexico

Production of certain AMSOIL Oil Filters and a Bypass Oil Filter is transitioning from the United States to Mexico. While we would prefer all AMSOIL oil filters be manufactured in the United States, our filtration partners don’t have American factories that can manufacture these oil filters to our specifications, and we were faced with the decision to either move production or discontinue the filters. Discontinuing these popular filters would hamper our ability to offer superior AMSOIL filtration solutions to a large number of customers. While this decision will keep these oil filters in our product lineup, the transition and current supply-chain issues have resulted in some temporary delays fulfilling orders.

Preferred Customer Program Adds Horsepower

The AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program has been souped up – and that’s great news for our family of thrill-seekers, racers and gearheads. Starting in November, Preferred Customers will enjoy more ways to save on the products they trust to protect their vehicles and equipment. And you will gain a stronger tool to grow your revenue stream.

Some Things Never Change

The existing program’s top perks are staying put. Preferred Customers will continue to enjoy up to 25% off every order and free shipping on orders of $100 ($130 Can.) or more. In addition, Preferred Customers will still receive exclusive promotional offers throughout the year and the quarterly AMSOIL Magazine with the latest product details, technical information and complete product catalog. The low membership fee is also staying the same. A full year’s membership is still only $20 ($30 Can.), and new Preferred Customers can start with a six-month trial membership for just $10 ($15 Can.).

What’s New?

Going forward, Preferred Customers will receive a $5 voucher every time they spend $100 with us. Members will also receive a $5 birthday gift to spend on their next order or membership renewal. And, if they spend $500 or more in a year, their membership renewal will be on us. Preferred Customers will be able to track their order history and progress toward free membership renewal through their personal and secure online My Rewards page.

See the October AMSOIL Magazine for more information.

Tips for Grabbing a Prospect’s Attention

The digital world has shortened our collective attention span. Most people have become desensitized to prepackaged marketing pitches. If you launch into what sounds like a scripted sales pitch, their eyes will glaze over.

When attempting to pique someone’s curiosity about AMSOIL products or registering as a Dealer, give yourself no more than 10 seconds. Provide enough detail to provoke follow-up questions. Your goal is a conversation, not a monologue.

See the October AMSOIL Magazine for guidelines on capturing a prospect’s attention.

The Bar for Motor Oil Performance Has Been Raised. Just Not to Our Standards.

GM* Dexos1™ Gen 3 is the next-generation motor oil specification designed to address the challenges today’s smaller, higher-powered engines present.

Dexos1 Gen 3 highlights

• Updated performance standard for deposit and sludge control

• Revised stochastic pre-ignition (SPI) test

• Improved fuel economy

• Backward compatible with previous GM specifications

GM set a mandatory transition date of Sept. 1, 2022 to meet the new specification. AMSOIL Signature Series, XL and OE Synthetic Motor Oils already outperform it.

Labels and data sheets will be updated as stock is depleted.

Commercial Training: Tools for Commercial Business Growth – Bulk Dispensing

The October commercial training session will be on the Bulk Dispensing Program, including customer types to target and how to present the benefits. The training will be led by Retail Program Manager Jamie Prochnow. If you want to learn more about this valuable resource that can be used to grow your commercial and installer business, you will not want to miss this training.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. Central. Use this link to join the meeting at the scheduled time:

Orders for Long-Term Backordered Filters Canceled

In a few cases, we are unsure when regular supply will resume. Therefore, we are canceling those backordered items. We encourage you to continue checking AMSOIL.com (AMSOIL.ca in Canada) for availability. Any in-stock items will ship or have shipped as usual. All Dealers, customers and accounts affected will be notified by email, and no one will be charged for those canceled items.

Going forward, backordered items will be identified online and we will not accept orders for products that are unavailable. The majority of AMSOIL products are available as normal and we expect that to continue; despite our best efforts, however, supplies of raw materials for grease, aerosols and filters continue to pose challenges and likely will for a few more months.

Thank you for understanding; we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
