Tax Information for U.S. and Canadian Dealers



Commissions are considered income and are reported on form 1099 Misc (U.S.) and form T4A (Canada).

The 1099 and T4A forms only reflect commissions paid during the calendar year; they do not include any deductions or credits from Dealer checks.

Dealers only receive a form if their commission checks totaled more than $600 in 2012 for U.S. Dealers and more than $500 for Canadian Dealers. Note that T4A forms are issued in Canadian funds.

Dealers’ 1099 and T4A income is determined by the dates of the commission checks issued between January 1 and December 31, 2012. This is essentially December 2011 through November 2012 commissions.

AMSOIL mailed all 1099 forms by January 31, 2013, and will mail T4A forms by no later than February 28, 2013. Please allow at least two weeks delivery time before calling for a replacement form.

Dealers suspecting an error on their 1099 or T4A forms are advised to gather their check stubs and call the accounting department at 715-399-6348.

If a Dealer who sold his or her business to another Dealer, or took over for someone else, receives a 1099 form made out to him or her, he or she is advised to gather all documentation regarding the date the change took place. Attend the AMSOIL 40th Anniversary Convention July 18-20



Join AMSOIL in celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Dealer network July 18-20, 2013 in Duluth, Minn. In conjunction with the convention AMSOIL is also offering an abbreviated AMSOIL University (AU), featuring the Core Technology curriculum, July 16-18.

For each new customer registered and qualified through March 31, Dealers are eligible for cash, products and giveaways, including the following:

• A free vehicle graphics package
• 10 packages for three nights* of free lodging at Holiday Inn (Dealers only).
• Five packages for four nights* of free lodging at Holiday Inn (DJs only).
• Five free Convention registrations (Dealers only).
• Three AU scholarships that include free Convention registrations. Must be registered for both AU and Convention (Dealers only).

All attending Dealers will receive a 10% rebate on orders up to $50,000 during the Convention.

Dealers who drive vehicles with the new vehicle graphics to the Convention will receive free premium parking.

Space is limited for the modified Core Technology training, so register early.

Credit cards will be billed at the time of registration. Cancellations without penalty will be accepted up to 30 days in advance of the Convention, June 15. Cancellations between June 15 and July 15 will be subject to a 20 percent fee. The same applies for cancellations for the Core Technology training. No refunds will be offered for cancellations after July 15, 2013. Special consideration will be given.

‘Piggyback Advertising’ Creates Valuable AMSOIL Exposure


Through sponsorship of successful race teams and series, as well as its extensive advertising efforts, AMSOIL has successfully increased brand awareness and helped Dealers promote their businesses and increase sales. However, for the millions of impressions AMSOIL sponsorships and advertising generate, millions more are created through “piggyback” advertising. Whenever a fellow sponsor of an AMSOIL racer or series promotes the sponsorship, AMSOIL and AMSOIL Dealers benefit through additional AMSOIL logo exposure. For example, this Walker Evans advertisement in the January 2013 issue of Dirt Sports features Team AMSOIL off-road racer Scott Douglas.

New Distribution Center Hours Will Improve Service


After tracking order flow, shipping performance and walk-in traffic for over a year, AMSOIL has decided to shift its distribution center extended hours from Thursday evening to Monday evening, effective February 4. Monday’s operation will open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. (The Superior Distribution Center will open at 8 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.) The change accomplishes three primary goals:

• Continues to provide an evening option for Dealers and customers.

• Increases hours of operation on Monday to process and ship orders accumulated over the weekend.

• Eliminates the late openings on Thursdays that have frustrated customers, while allowing more orders to be shipped the same day they are received.
