We’re saddened to hear about the passing of racing legend and longtime AMSOIL champion Bobby Unser, who died May 3 of natural causes at his New Mexico home. Many Dealers will remember Bobby’s passion for AMSOIL products and the key role he played in helping AMSOIL Founder Al Amatuzio validate AMSOIL synthetic lubricants on the race track. Bobby credited AMSOIL synthetic lubricants with saving his race car’s rear differential during the grueling Pike’s Peak Hill Climb, the annual race up Colorado’s Pike’s Peak. He was an avid AMSOIL supporter ever since, going on to win the Indy 500 three times and the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb 10 times during his hall-of-fame career.

Bobby was part of the AMSOIL family for decades, starring in several commercials to promote the brand and occasionally appearing at Dealer events. His record as a driver speaks for itself, but we’ll remember him most for being a friend to AMSOIL and our founder, Al Amatuzio, all these years. His infectious smile and affable nature could charm any crowd. His tenacity and talent could tame any track. RIP, Bobby.
