Racing is Research™

For AMSOIL, a day at the track isn’t just entertainment. Research through racing provides the opportunity to develop and validate AMSOIL lubricants in some of the toughest applications around. The effect doesn’t apply only to products for racing applications; it resonates throughout the entire AMSOIL product line. It’s an underlying philosophy captured in the phrase “Racing is Research,” and it has helped guide product development since the company’s early days.

Premium Dealer Zone Subscription Now Included with Direct Jobber Administration & Services Plan

AMSOIL has charged Direct Jobbers a monthly administration fee for many years. Prior to instituting the fee, Direct Jobbers had many administrative responsibilities that AMSOIL Corporate has since taken over. In the company’s early days, only Direct Jobbers could work directly with AMSOIL Corporate. Only Direct Jobbers could call for technical assistance, order products and earn commissions directly from AMSOIL. It was the Direct Jobber’s responsibility to process orders for his or her personal group Dealers; keep track of those orders throughout the month and calculate, print and mail commission checks. This method of operation was standard procedure for most MLM companies, and the AMSOIL Marketing Plan provided extra compensation to Direct Jobbers to cover these responsibilities. AMSOIL eventually took responsibility for much of it in order to allow the company’s best salespeople to spend more time in the field and less time in the office.

Rather than downwardly adjusting Direct Jobber compensation, AMSOIL began charging Direct Jobbers a monthly fee for the extra administrative work, which has been set at $25 for many years. Although the fee doesn’t begin to cover the actual expenses associated with this administrative work, the company has used it to cover a portion of the expenses and offset other costs associated with online reports, technical services, telephone and online ordering, application processing, co-op programs and advertising and leads programs.

Effective with the April 2012 commission period, the previously titled “Package 10 - Monthly Earnings Statement & Commission Accounting” package has been changed to the more aptly titled “Direct Jobber Administration & Services Plan.” Direct Jobbers are still required to participate, and are automatically enrolled, in the Direct Jobber Administration & Services Plan and Premium Dealer Zone.

However, Direct Jobbers who meet the monthly minimum requirements to be compensated as Direct Jobbers will only be charged the $25 for the Direct Jobber Administration & Services Plan, and will receive the Premium Dealer Zone subscription at no additional charge. Direct Jobbers who do not meet the monthly minimum requirements to be compensated as Direct Jobbers will only be charged $9.95 for the Premium Dealer Zone subscription and will not be charged $25 for the Direct Jobber Administration & Services Plan.

New Policy on Un-Cashed Stale-Dated Commission Checks

It is important for all Dealers to note that commission checks must be cashed within 180 days. Commission checks not cashed within the 180-day time limit are considered stale-dated and will not be processed by the company’s bank. In the past, AMSOIL has reissued stale-dated checks at no charge. As of August 1, 2012, AMSOIL will apply a yet-undetermined processing fee toward the reissue of all un-cashed stale-dated checks.

Before implementing this change, AMSOIL will credit back any un-cashed stale-dated commission checks more than 180 days old without charging a processing fee for the last time on July 1. This only impacts Dealers with un-cashed commission checks on file. Those Dealers will receive a check on July 15 for any un-cashed commission checks.

Beginning August 1, 2012, stale-dated commission checks will automatically be voided, a processing fee applied and the net amount credited to Dealer Accounts. Going forward, this will occur on a monthly basis.

To ensure Dealers receive all their commission payments, and to avoid the processing fee on stale-dated checks, AMSOIL highly recommends signing up for direct deposit. Direct deposit is now available for all Dealers. Having commissions deposited directly into a bank account offers many benefits for AMSOIL Dealers. Commission payments arrive faster than traditional mail, and it is not necessary to wait for a check to arrive in the mail and then have to take it to the bank for deposit.

Because direct deposit is a more cost-effective payment method, AMSOIL is able to pay any commissions over $1. For Dealers continuing to receive paper checks, the commission check minimum is $10. Direct deposit not only ensures Dealers receive commission payments quickly, but they do not have to wait to accumulate over $10 to receive a commission payment. In addition, all commission reports are available in the Dealer Zone on the 15th of each month, and Dealers have access to this information right away rather than waiting for the mail. Email notification lets Dealers know AMSOIL has initiated their commission payments for deposit into their bank accounts.

The future of business continues to move toward electronic payments, and AMSOIL encourages all Dealers to register for direct deposit in the Dealer Zone (located under the Services menu).

Dealers Targeted by Solicitors

AMSOIL Dealers are occasionally targeted through the Internet by solicitors offering opportunities to join new organizations, add new product lines from other companies or receive business-building advice from an MLM “expert.” Others offer website-building services that often overpromise the positive effects the website will deliver. Although some offers may be legitimate, many are scams or inappropriate offers for AMSOIL Dealers. AMSOIL is not able to prevent most of these solicitations, and Dealers are urged to exercise caution and evaluate opportunities on a buyer-beware basis. Be wary of proposals that seem too good to be true, have recurring fee structures or request actions that violate AMSOIL policies. The success of AMSOIL Dealers is appealing to those offering these types of solicitations, and with the prominence of the World Wide Web, these offers are expected to increase.

If you have any questions or additional information about potential scams or solicitations by those offering services that violate AMSOIL policies, please notify [email protected] or your Regional Sales Manager. Dealers who receive unwanted solicitations can file a complaint with the FTC at www.ftc.gov/spam/ or by calling 1-877-382-4357.

AMSOIL Implementing Call-Recording Software

In an effort to enhance customer service, AMSOIL is implementing call-recording software for the AMSOIL Telephone Ordering and Technical Services Departments. The new system will go live the first week of July, and will allow AMSOIL to improve training for corporate personnel who interact with customers.
