The T-1 Certification process has been streamlined by moving the test online, while the T-1 Certification page in the Dealer Zone (located under the Training tab) features an improved layout.

Dealers seeking T-1 Certification will now take the test online. The test is free-of-charge and conveniently accessible through the Dealer Zone. Simply log into the Dealer Zone from any computer and visit the T-1 Certification page to take the test. Z.O. Cards No Longer Mailed to Renewing Dealers and Preferred Customers

AMSOIL mails Z.O. cards to Dealers and Preferred Customers as a way for them to identify themselves as such. In the past, identification was required in order to purchase AMSOIL products from an AMSOIL Distribution Center or pay wholesale prices when purchasing from another AMSOIL Dealer. Today Dealer and Preferred Customer information is stored electronically and identification cards are unnecessary. Effective mid-June, AMSOIL is no longer mailing Z.O. cards to renewing Dealers and Preferred Customers. AMSOIL has upgraded the quality of the cards and new Dealers and Preferred Customers will still receive Z.O. cards upon registration. AMSOIL will confirm renewals with a message to renewing Dealers’ email addresses and message center inboxes.

Jiffy Lube’s Oil Change Interval Recommendation Target of Lawsuit

Jiffy Lube International is the target of a $5 million California class-action lawsuit for false and misleading advertising and unfair competitive practices related to its former 3,000-mile/three-month oil change interval recommendation. The lawsuit alleges Jiffy Lube misled consumers and received “unjust enrichment” by recommending shorter oil change intervals than those recommended by vehicle manufacturers. The lawsuit asks that Jiffy Lube be barred from engaging in unlawful practices, including the use of “deceptive” and “misleading” window stickers. Jiffy Lube discontinued its 3,000-mile/three-month oil change interval recommendation in June 2011, urging motorists to instead follow vehicle manufacturer recommendations.

Boating Industry Shows Signs of Recovery

New data from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) reveals the beginning of a recovery for the boating industry. U.S. retail sales of recreational boats, accessories and marine services increased 6 percent in 2011, marking the industry’s first retail sales increase since 2006. Boating participation also increased by 10 percent (to 34.8 percent of adults), marking its highest level since 1997.

“Pent-up demand for boats following years of diminished willingness to spend by consumers, improved credit availability for buyers and boating businesses, positive shifts in consumer confidence and an overall interest in the benefits of the boating lifestyle are steering the industry toward recovery,” said NMMA President Thom Dammrich. “Americans’ passion for enjoying the boating lifestyle is taking precedent as they put aside concerns about the economy in favor of creating lifelong memories with loved ones.”
