DOMINATOR® Octane Boost New Packaging

AMSOIL Octane Boost (AOB) has been added to the DOMINATOR® family, and now features updated packaging. The formulation, product code and pricing remain unchanged.

DOMINATOR Octane Boost improves the performance of all two- and four-cycle gasoline-fueled engines by maximizing power, reducing engine knock, improving ignition and engine response, helping fuel burn cleaner and removing carbon deposits. It is also excellent as a lead substitute in collector automobiles, older off-road equipment, 4x4 off-road vehicles and gasoline racing vehicles.

AGGRAND, MANN-FILTER®, Donaldson® and Mothers® Price Adjustment Effective February 1

Due to fluctuations in raw material costs, AGGRAND products are subject to a price adjustment effective February 1. Cost increases from aftermarket partners MANN-FILTER®, Donaldson® and Mothers® are effective February 1. See the Product Pricing Interface in the Dealer Zone for updated pricing.

California Agency Campaigns Against 3,000-Mile Oil Changes

A survey conducted by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) reveals over 40 percent of Californians still change their oil at least every 3,000 miles. The agency’s “Check Your Number” campaign, launched in November, is encouraging drivers to change oil less often by adhering to vehicle manufacturer-recommended drain intervals.

“That’s the thrust of our campaign,” said CalRecycle spokesman Mark Oldfield. “Get people to rethink this long-held belief, because obviously there have been such improvements in both the products and the automobiles themselves that have led manufacturers in many cases to recommend longer intervals between oil changes. For us the campaign is really about making information available and allowing people to make the choice that’s right for them.”

New Chicago Distribution Center to Open January 23

The opening of the new Chicago Distribution Center at 485 Thomas Drive, Bensenville, IL 60106 has been moved to January 23. The current distribution center will close at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 20, and the new facility will open the morning of Monday, January 23. Study Reveals AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants Increase Fuel Economy 6.54 Percent in Diesel Trucking Applications

To determine the fuel economy benefits of its synthetic lubricants, AMSOIL INC. simultaneously compared fuel consumption in two nearly identical 2001 Kenworth T800B short- to medium-haul diesel trucks in accordance with the SAE J1321 In-Service Fuel Consumption Test Procedure. The procedure’s primary goal is to eliminate all operating and environmental variables that may influence fuel economy - except lubricant selection.

Testing demonstrates use of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants in short- to medium-haul diesel applications can increase fuel economy, and in this case did by 6.54 percent.

Stationary Natural Gas Engine Oil Provides Improved Performance

Advances in technology and rigorous field testing have allowed AMSOIL to reformulate Stationary Natural Gas Engine Oil (ANGS) to provide even-greater protection and performance over extended drain intervals. Field trial testing demonstrates reduced wear and valve recession, decreased equipment maintenance and increased periods between engine rebuilds.

AMSOIL Synthetic Stationary Natural Gas Engine Oil delivers continuous protection in stationary natural gas engines calling for an SAE 40 low-ash lubricant. Its shear-stable formula qualifies it as a multi-grade 20W-40 so it can be used over a broad ambient temperature range, reducing the need for seasonal oil changes.

AMSOIL Introduces a New Installer Locator Tool

Customers who are visiting the AMSOIL website in December will have the first chance to use a new tool which complements the Dealer Locator service. The AMSOIL Installer Locator will address the needs of the expanding “do-it-for-me” oil change market by listing AMSOIL retail accounts that are classified as installation locations. The “FIND AN AMSOIL DEALER NEAR YOU” link located on the AMSOIL homepage will be replaced with a “FIND AMSOIL PRODUCTS NEAR YOU” link. This will open the location-based services which will default to the standard Dealer Locator.

Prior users will immediately notice that the service has been redesigned with a cleaner interface and several new controls. Address, city and state or postal code information will now be entered at the left and a new Google maps interface will display results based on the information entered. A new text list feature will list all Dealer and Installer locations which appear on the map to avoid overlapping location markers in crowded areas. Users will have the option of clicking on a new “Installers” tab just next to the default “Dealers” tab which will refresh the data to include only locations that install AMSOIL products. Clicking on any of the mapped results will bring up information regarding that location, including address, with additional features including a satellite street-level view and driving directions to assist in locating the installer.

As an added benefit to the Dealers who have installers in the system, users who search under the “Dealers” tab will be able to click on a link provided next to their listing to see all of the installers that Dealer has in the area searched.

To remain eligible for inclusion in the service, retail accounts must be registered with AMSOIL INC. and must have a “brick and mortar” location, with at least a segment of the operation focused on oil installation. Accounts must also meet a minimum purchasing requirement of $500 (U.S.) in the previous six months. The tools needed to administrate the retail installer contact information are available in both the AMSOIL Dealer Zone and Retail Account Zone. Two instructional videos are hosted at the administration screen: the first describes the functionality of the Installer Locator, and the second demonstrates how to administrate the installer location information required for an account to appear on the locator.

This is the first phase of the improvements to the location-based locator. AMSOIL is aware that there are Dealers who run or own installer locations and are not registered as retail accounts. The next phase of improvements will include the ability for AMSOIL Dealers who also own brick and mortar businesses that install AMSOIL products to be listed on the Installer Locator. This phase is expected to be completed in early 2012. In the meantime, Dealers who install and are T-1 Certified will continue to be listed on the standard Dealer Locator. Future locator development will also include a Retail Locator for registered AMSOIL Retail Accounts that sell AMSOIL products on the shelf, but do not provide installation services.

AMSOIL Maintains Freight Rates with UPS SurePost

AMSOIL INC. recently began using UPS SurePost to ship packages between 1-10 pounds (excluding oil products and fuel additives). Primary usage is for the shipping of literature, aftermarket products and ALTRUM vitamins out of Superior. The program allows AMSOIL to maintain its freight rates, with rates remaining unchanged for the fourth consecutive year.

Packages shipped through the UPS SurePost program are transported through the UPS ground network until reaching the customer’s local post office; the postal service makes final delivery to the customer’s address. Transit time is between 2-7 days, and packages may be tracked on ups.com.

Expanded Edmonton and Chicago Distribution Centers to Open in New Locations

Company growth has prompted AMSOIL to expand five distribution centers. The expanded Edmonton and Chicago distribution centers will be opening in new locations, while the Richmond, Toronto and Dallas distribution center expansions have been completed at their current locations.

The new Edmonton Distribution Center increases space from 6,600 square feet to just over 14,000 square feet and is located one block away from the current location; the new address is 14328 – 121A Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. The current distribution center will close at noon on Friday, December 16, and the new facility will open the morning of Monday, December 19.

The new Chicago Distribution Center increases space from 11,000 square feet to 19,000 square feet and is located two miles away from the current location; the new address is 485 Thomas Drive, Bensenville, IL 60106. The current distribution center will close at noon on Friday, January 6, and the new facility will open the morning of Monday, January 9.

15W-40 Synthetic Blend Gasoline & Diesel Oil Discontinued, Available at Discounted Pricing

With the growing popularity of AMSOIL OE 15W-40 Synthetic Diesel Oil (OED), AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Blend Gasoline & Diesel Oil (PCO) is discontinued and available while supplies last. Effective December 1, remaining inventory is available at a 25 percent discount. As a full synthetic, AMSOIL OE Synthetic Diesel Oil offers benefits beyond those offered by AMSOIL Synthetic Blend Diesel Oil. It is formulated to meet the most current API specification, CJ-4, and is suitable for use in both modern and older diesel engines. AMSOIL Synthetic Blend Gasoline & Diesel Oil, on the other hand, only meets the previous API specification, CI-4+. OE Diesel Oil also is available at a lower cost than AMSOIL Synthetic Blend Gasoline & Diesel Oil.

New Canadian Freight and Handling Rates Effective January 2, 2012 Increase Convenience

AMSOIL is implementing new Canadian freight and handling rates effective January 2, 2012. While rates have increased slightly for some provinces, they have decreased for others and, overall, enhance convenience for Dealers, Preferred Customers and accounts. The current rates depict estimated freight and handling costs only, meaning the actual cost is unknown until orders are shipped. This prevents Dealers from giving accurate quotes and sometimes causes price discrepancies for accounts and customers. The new rates depict actual freight and handling costs, allowing Dealers and customers to know the exact freight and handling charge prior to placing the order. Shipments to a small minority of outlying areas remain subject to additional interline fees. A list of the affected postal codes is posted on the shipping information page.

Cold-Temperature Storage Recommendations

Because cold-temperature storage can be detrimental to the performance of some AMSOIL products, AMSOIL offers the following storage recommendations:

Lubricants: Store at temperatures at least 10°F above the lubricant’s pour point.

Greases: Store in a dry environment at temperatures at least 10°F above the grease’s lowest operating temperature.

Gasoline Additives, Engine and Transmission Flush: No adverse issues with cold-temperature storage.

Diesel Concentrate, Cetane Boost, Diesel Recovery: No adverse issues with cold-temperature storage.

Diesel Cold Flow Improver, Diesel Concentrate Plus Cold Flow Improver: Store at temperatures above 0°F.

Brake Fluids: Do not store at temperatures below -40°F for longer than two weeks.

Heavy Duty Metal Protector, Metal Protector, Power Foam, Multi-Purpose Spray Grease, Fogging Oil, Silicone Spray: No adverse issues with cold-temperature storage as long as products are allowed to warm to room temperature before use.

Miracle Wash®: Will freeze below 32°F. Can be thawed for use.

Mothers® products: Store at temperatures above freezing.

Antifreeze and Engine Coolant: Will not freeze. No adverse issues with cold-temperature storage.

Dominator® Coolant Boost: Store above 32°F.

Slip Lock®: No adverse issues with cold-temperature storage. If product separates, heat to room temperature and shake well before use.

It’s hard to believe, but the end of 2012 is fast approaching. Amid the holiday shopping and parties, this can be a very busy time of the year. Thinking about the next 12 months can be a little daunting, but that is exactly what we hope you will take the time to do. Schedule a time to sit down and set your goals for 2012 to ensure you have the time needed to think about this important subject.

Setting goals is a very important step for every AMSOIL Dealer. Noted professional speaker Jim Cathcart once said, "Most people aim at nothing in life and hit it with amazing accuracy." If we don't specify exactly our destination, we have no reason to complain about not getting where we want to go. That is why it is so important to set goals for your AMSOIL business.

We also recommend setting S.M.A.R.T. goals; which means your goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. Make sure you can reach the goals you set, but they also stretch who you are. It doesn’t make much sense to set a goal that is too easily attained or one that is way out of reach.
