AMSOIL Price Adjustment

The lubricants industry has experienced rapidly increasing base stock and additive cost increases over the past few months, and many other lubricant manufacturers have recently implemented 5 to 15 percent price increases. While AMSOIL makes every effort to maintain the lowest prices possible and has delayed raising prices for as long as possible, the ever-increasing costs of raw materials has forced AMSOIL to implement a minimal 4 to 8 percent price adjustment on select products in the U.S. effective March 1. Due to fluctuations in the exchange rate, Canadian prices will remain unchanged at this time. Even with a minimal price adjustment, AMSOIL synthetic lubricants remain the best and most cost-effective choice on the market, saving customers money through extended drain intervals, reduced wear and maintenance and increased fuel efficiency.

Updated pricing information is available in the Product Pricing Interface in the Dealer Zone at http://www.amsoil.com/. For pricing effective March 1, select Future Pricing. Pricing files are available in either EXCEL or PDF formats. The new printed U.S. Wholesale Price List (G3500) will be available for purchase by February 10.

Retail and commercial accounts have been notified of the impending price change through an email, an Account Zone message and the January Service Line. Servicing Dealers are also encouraged to inform their customers of the price change.

Mothers® Price Adjustment

Mothers® Inc. has implemented price adjustments on select products in the U.S. effective March 1. New pricing affects only the products listed on this PDF document. While a few products have increased in price, most have decreased. Canadian prices will remain unchanged at this time.

AMSOIL P.i. Improves Fuel Economy or Your Money Back

AMSOIL P.i. Performance Improver increases fuel economy, reduces emissions and restores vehicle power and performance by dissolving and removing combustion chamber, intake valve and fuel injector deposits. In fact, field testing shows AMSOIL P.i. provides an average fuel economy improvement of 2.3 percent and up to 5.7 percent. Because of this substantiation, as well as the company’s confidence in the performance benefits of P.i., AMSOIL is offering a money-back guarantee on the product’s fuel economy benefits. If a customer does not see fuel economy improvement in his or her vehicle after first-time use of P.i., AMSOIL will refund the purchase price of the product. The P.i. money-back guarantee begins March 1 and is good through May 31. It is open to everyone, including Dealers, Preferred Customers, retail customers, catalog customers, commercial and retail accounts.

Ea Motorcycle Air Filters Sale

AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters (EAAM) are being discontinued, and are available at 50 percent savings while supplies last. Commission credits have also been adjusted. Suggested retail pricing remains unchanged.

FTC Issues Consumer Alert on Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently issued a consumer alert clarifying that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits automobile manufacturers and dealers from denying warranty coverage based on use of an aftermarket product, unless they can show the product caused the damage or was installed incorrectly.

“The FTC’s statement should help those ILMA members, for example, who have decided not to license General Motors’ dexos™ engine oil,” said ILMA counsel Jeff Leiter. “Some ILMA members have complained to me that the automaker has made confusing statements about its new engine oil and warranty coverage for new vehicles. It makes sense to hand a customer a copy of the FTC consumer alert, showing that the use of equivalent products should not affect warranty coverage.”

AMSOIL University Just Around the Corner

AMSOIL University (AU) is the most important Dealer training event of the year, and the 2011 event is rapidly approaching. Join fellow Dealers and AMSOIL corporate staff May 15-19 at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) in Duluth, Minn. Have you finished writing out your sales plan for the year? It is never too late. Think about this: you wouldn’t drive to Arizona for the first time without following a map, so why would you start the year without a plan for your AMSOIL business? Some Dealers do, and just like trying to arrive at a destination without a map, they become angry and confused without a proper plan. Not sure how to get started? Try following some of the following quick tips on writing a sales plan.

If this is the first time you have written a sales plan, or if you are just starting your AMSOIL business, your sales plan will be a good guide to assist you and get you going. First, make a list of your anticipated monthly expenses. Remember, this plan can be adjusted once you gain a clearer understanding of your actual expenses and sales. Once you have this monthly figure determined, you will know how much you must sell in order for your AMSOIL business to break even.

Next, write down a figure for how much money you would like to make with your AMSOIL business over the next year. Be realistic. If this is your first year in business, it would not be recommended that you write down a six-figure total. Once you have your annual figure decided, divide it by 12 to determine your monthly total. Add this total to the number created in the first step and you have the amount you must sell on a monthly basis to keep your AMSOIL business running.

Next, create a list of every possible way you can sell AMSOIL products. This list has really been started for you with the programs AMSOIL offers, but add some ideas of your own. You can use email, print advertising, guerilla marketing, etc. Also, remember to include online media such as social networks and blogs.

Be sure to use one of these methods, at the very least, every day. Every month, pick a method you may not be comfortable with and try it twice a month for at least six months. Stretch your comfort zone. Pick the three methods you have realized the best success with and use them as your primary sales and marketing strategies.

Keep track of your sales for the year. Research cost-cutting opportunities for your AMSOIL business and put them down on paper.

The main point is to have a plan. Do some research on writing a sales or business plan before you put a pencil to paper. Someone once said that we spend more time planning a two-week vacation than we do planning our life. Avoid this trap. Don’t simply get in your car and start driving to get to Arizona. You might end up in southern California, which wouldn’t be bad, except it was not where you wanted to go. Don’t start the year without a sales plan for your AMSOIL business, and end the year where you planned.
